#AskAwayFriday is a weekly blog hop where bloggers exchange 10 questions and answer them on their own blogs. I’ve been participating for a few weeks now and I have to admit this is my favorite blog hop. I love that you get to know each other, it’s always fun, and the members are amazing! I have been welcomed into their group and made a part of the blog hop.
My favorite holiday is definitly Christmas, just because we do so much with our families. We are lucky enough to have a big family and we end up juggling who goes where each Christmas. I love spending Christmas Eve with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. And we always fit in a few big meals over the holidays.
We have a few simple traditions, like the kids leave milk, cookies and carrots for Santa and the reindeer and Santa always writes a little note. The kids are allowed to open one small gift before bed on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning they are allowed to open their stockings once we are all awake, but they have to wait until all of the grandparents are here before they get to open anything under the tree.
My favorite birthday party for Dakota was her 6th birthday. It was a Sponge Bob theme and I spent months planning. We rented the local fire hall and made it look like we were under water. The kids loved the “capture the jelly fish” game that meant they had to chase purple balloons filled with helium around the hall and try to catch them with butterfly nets.
My favorite for Georgia was her 3rd Wiggles party. Georgia was obsessd with the Wiggles at the time and she was so excited to have a Wiggles birthday cake! I spent days making decorations and trying to perfect a large Wiggle’s logo for the living room wall. We played “Harry the Octopus Ring Toss”, “Captain Feathersword’s Treasure Hunt” and made musical instruments. I had just has much fun as Georgia did!
I like just writing about our daily life. You can find lots of posts about nothing, well, everything, lol, in the “Everyday Ramblings” section. I think if I had to pick one post from that section, I would choose A Foggy Afternoon at the Beach, just because we had so much fun that day.
The last concert I saw was The Wiggle’s farewell tour before Greg, Murray and Jeff left the group. We surprised Georgia with a trip to Halifax and the concert in October, 2012 and it was so much fun watching her expressions as she took it all in.
The best concert I have been to was “Country Rocks the Hill” in New Brunswick when we went to a large outdoor concert with Georgia Canyon, Sugarland, Alan Jackson and Brooks-n-Dunn. I loved Alan Jackson’s set and it was so great! We even got to meet George Canyon and get his autograph for Dakota, who was only 7 at the time, but a big fan.
Dakota is responsible and loyal. Georgia is fun-loving and sensitive. Turner is sweet and silly.
I don’t really know of any right off the top of my head. I always like the book better, anyway, so I don’t think a movie of any book would be as good as the original story.
Shoot – sleep was going to be my answer! LOL
If I had a day to myself I would read, get caught up on blogs and email, maybe go for a drive and enjoy a treat (junk food of course) all to myself without having to share.
There are some beautiful houses and buildings around our town and walking through town is beautiful, but I think what you would like the best is the beaches. We have a few different beaches to choose from within 15 minutes of our house, and more further on. It’s beautiful on the beaches on a summer evening.
Artist? I immediately think of music. Although I’m not sure who I would pick. I love Tim McGraw, Jon Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocilli …
We are going camping the last weekend of summer before school starts and it will be our last outing for the summer. And (dare I admit this?) I am actually looking forward to going back to work next month.
Bonus: Answer one question that you asked me!
I chose: List 5 things you love about your husband.
~ He always makes me laugh. Even when I’m mad at him!
~ He likes to cuddle in bed.
~ When he has stubble on his chin in between shaves.
~ His lips!
~ He’ll protect me during a zombie apocalypse.
… and a few more things that aren’t PG, so I won’t list them here ….
