I am going to enjoy this brief moment of peacefulness.
I have been trying to come up with a clever comparison about blogging and dial-up Internet, but I’m not creative enough to come up with anything catchy. So here’s the non-clever comments: it’s ridiculously slow!!
It’s next to impossible to upload pictures and I can usually play a game or two of Freecell why waiting for Blogger to load. I hate dial-up Internet. So all of the plans I had for adding new pages and redesigning the look of the blog will have to wait until either a) we get our high speed Internet back or b) I have patience and energy enough for an all-nighter. Neither one seem likely any time soon.
So instead of the dozen or so well written blog posts I want to add, I will just write a random post about day-to-day nothings. Without pictures.
Did I tell you my computer crashed? Well, we thought it crashed. I had just finished editing pictures for a friend and before I could burn them off the computer shut-off – and wouldn’t turn back on! All of the pictures I had just finished editing were gone, all of the wedding pictures from 2011, my blog posts and pictures, all of my documents, my favorites, my digital scrapbook supplies. All gone!! Or so I thought. My friend’s husband took it home with hopes of getting it to work and it turns out that it wasn’t the hard-drive after all. Phew!! The computer just needs a new power supply and everything on the computer was still there. Now I am waiting for the new part and in the meantime I am using hubby’s computer. I hate having to fight over the computer and I am quickly filling up his favorites with blogs and other must-reads I have found in the last few weeks. I can’t wait to get my computer back – and to get those files backed up!!!
Hubby & I had a date night over the weekend. It’s been awhile since we’ve gone out with no kids and it was nice to get out of the house. We really had no extra money so we picked the cheapest date night we could think of – Subway and bowling! LOL It was actually a lot of fun. My best friend and her husband came with us and we had the entire bowling lane to ourselves! They turned up the music for us and we all bowled horrible games. It’s been years since any of us had been bowling and man, could you tell! Luckily there was no one else in the alley to laugh at us! And it was fun.
Matt’s parents took the kids while we were out. The older two were planning on spending the night and we were just going to pick up the baby when we were done. (I’m not ready to leave him for the night yet!) When I went to pick up Turner, Georgia wanted to come home, too. She has never had a problem staying the night before and I was really surprised. I’m not sure if it’s because she hasn’t been feeling good lately (we’ve been to the doctor’s twice and still aren’t sure what’s wrong) or if it’s because she was a bit jealous that Turner was coming home with Momma and she wanted to, too. But it was nice spending Sunday morning cuddled in bed with Matt and the kids.
Sunday we went to my grandmother’s for turkey supper. I love going to my grandparent’s house. When we were kids we would spend every Sunday there. It always feels so warm and cozy. I can’t describe it, but it’s one of my favorite places to be. I wish we were able to get there more often. Supper was good and visiting with family was wonderful. I love my family. (I plan on doing a post specifically about my grandparents someday soon.)
The weather has been unseasonable here this winter. It’s been like spring! The kids have been blowing bubbles and drawing on the patio with chalk – in February! The sun and warmer weather gave me a bit of an energy burst yesterday and I spent the entire day cleaning! I scrubbed the bathroom (my least favorite job!), cleaned the microwave, got caught up on dishes and laundry, washed jackets, hats, mittens, blankets, and washed all of the kids downstairs toys! Before I went to bed I gave the floor a quick mop and felt good going to bed with a clean house. (Well, the downstairs anyway. The upstairs is another story!) I woke up this morning to find muddy footprints all over the living room floor! Matt was on the couch watching TV when I went to bed. He must have walked on the floor before it was dry. I can track everything he did before going to bed. Muddy footprints leading from the couch to the basement door (he went down to check the fire) from the basement door to the patio door (he locked up before bed) to the porch door (turning off the outside lights) and then to the bathroom before heading back across the living room and up the stairs. Sigh. So much for a clean house.
Turner has been watching us eat, smacking his lips and getting excited. He will be five months this week. (Already! Where does the time go?!) I think cereal may be in the near future. Stay tuned for a post on that.
I got to go grocery shopping by myself Saturday morning. It was nice to get out of the house and the weather was so nice I could roll down the windows, crank up the music (Bon Jovi, of course) and sing – something I can’t do with the kids in the car. I went a little over on the grocery budget, but got a few good deals and a month’s supply of diapers and laundry soap. Not much for great coupon deals this week but Sobey’s had a 10 for $10 sale and I love that Walmart price matches. In the end I got ranch dressing for 50 cents, nutri-grain bars for 79 cents, toilet paper half price, $3 laundry soap, a $40 box of diapers for $26 and lots of things for $1.
We have recently started watching The Big Bang Theory. How have we not been watching this show all these years!! Matt, Dakota & I all love it. Now F.R.I.E.N.D.S will always be my favorite, but Big Bang is coming awfully close. I think Santa may look around for the season’s on DVD for under the Christmas tree this year.
How was your week? Did anything exciting happen? Did you have a date night? Did you find any good coupon deals? I’d love to hear about every one’s weekend.
I love a good sandwich. Especially with lots of lettuce and cheese! Today’s lunch was ham, lettuce and cheese sandwiches. My kids don’t really like sandwiches, but this is one kind that they will all eat! 🙂
I still love these pictures I had posted on my old blog, back in February 2012. They capture Georgia’s personality at 3 years old exactly as she was! She loved Murray from The Wiggles, and loved her red Wiggles shirt. I love the smile on her face and the little bit of curl in her hair.
Georgia loves Murray Wiggle from The Wiggles.
She names all of her dolls or stuffed animals ‘Murray’ and she pretends that Murray is at our house almost every day. She has even named Murray as her “husband”.
She got this red Wiggles shirt as a gift “From Murray” at Christmas time. Wrapping it the night before I was so excited for her to open it Christmas morning. I expected a huge reaction and had the camera all ready. Instead of excitedly yelling that Murray had given her his red shirt, she slowly opened the gift, looked at it funny, had me read the card to her again, and then put it back under the tree. She would ask me to read the card to her several times over the next few days and refused to wear the shirt.
Finally, a few days after Christmas, I asked her if she liked her gift from Murray. “Yes, I do. But how did he give it to me? He’s just pretend?!” In my excitement to give her the shirt I had confused her. Poor kid! So I explained that the shirt was from the real Wiggle Murray and it had come all the way from Australia! After that she was excited and started wearing the shirt almost every day.
She always has to wear it with black pants and black shoes – just like Murray.
I still remember this Valentine’s Day. There have been many days like this! LOL
Ok – so I am a day late on this post! Did everyone have a good Valentine’s Day? Did you get a special treat? My favorite was a homemade card from Dakota. The homemade ones are always my favorite.
For the most part it was just a regular day around here. And what a day it was!! Here is a summary of my morning:
LOL! It seemed like one thing right after the other all morning! Have you ever had a crazy day?
In the end I finally got the baby to sleep – only to be woken up by Georgia who refused to nap. The dog came back and peed on the floor – again – and I ended up throwing out the floor mat. And my husband must have forgotten that it was Valentine’s Day because I didn’t even get a kiss or so much as a “Happy Valentine’s Day, Dear”.
But I did get some one-on-one time with Georgia, a lovely homemade card from Dakota (those are always my favorite) and the baby ended up sleeping all night.
I love my family, even on crazy days and I wouldn’t change a thing!
I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day!
This was a post from my old blog, posted February 12, 2012. Georgia still sleeps with that quilt on her bed and she still loves to wear one piece pajamas, although it is getting harder to find some that fit as she gets older. (But we did find a pair for Dakota for Christmas this past year!)
I love a freshly bathed baby or toddler in warm fuzzy feetie pajamas.
I remember being a bit sad when Dakota out grew her full piece PJ’s. Now, Georgia is wearing them.
Most of these are old hand me downs or Frenchy finds, but she wears them every night.
Freshly washed pajamas and a home made quilt. <3
